There has been a temporary change to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) Regulations. Employees are now able to self-certificate for up to 28 days.
This legislation changes comes into force today (17th December 2021) and ends 26th January 2022.
This applies to employees who:
- have a spell of incapacity to work which has commenced prior to 17th December 2021 but which, on that date, has lasted for no longer than 7 days
OR - commences on any day between 17th December 2021 – 26th January 2022 (ends at 26th January 2022).
This change has been introduced to help GPs with capacity to deliver the COVID-19 Booster vaccinations.
