HR UPDATE – Statutory Sick Pay

There has been a temporary change to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) Regulations. Employees are now able to self-certificate for up to 28 days.

This legislation changes comes into force today (17^th December 2021) and ends 26^th January 2022.

This applies to employees who:

have a spell of incapacity to work which has commenced prior to 17^th December 2021 but which, on that date, has lasted for no longer than 7 days
OR
commences on any day between 17^th December 2021 – 26^th January 2022 (ends at 26^th January 2022).

This change has been introduced to help GPs with capacity to deliver the COVID-19 Booster vaccinations.

Time purchased through the COMPLY service may on occasions be required to be delivered on site or on a face to face basis, in which case travel time may be incurred. In these cases, our services are provided on a minimum half day (4 hour) basis or where time used is over 4 hours, a full day (8 hour) basis. We will in every case advise you of these charges in advance of incurring them. Where time used is over half a day but under a full day, travel time will also be agreed with you at 50% of our usual hourly rate. Where a full day is used, we will absorb the cost of the travel time.

Unused purchased consultancy time rolls forward each month and remains on the timesheet for the duration of the current subscription. At the end of the stated period, unused time will be notified to the client and held on the timesheet for client use for 3 further months (unless an extension to this is agreed in writing). After this period, any remaining unused time is moved to our Social Impact account where it is used for our pro bono client work, such work being determined annually by stakeholder feedback. A record is kept of time moved to the Social Impact account and time used from this account.

A FREE HR mini Healthcheck will be offered to clients taking a COMPLY subscription of 2 – 3 hours per month over 1, 2 or 3 years. Delivered by phone and email. All areas of employment law compliance reviewed and report provided showing areas of acceptable compliance and areas of concern, listed by priority.

A FREE standard HR Healthcheck for clients taking a subscription of 4 hours or more per month over 1, 2 or 3 years. Delivered on site in West Midlands / West Mercia or by phone and email outside of this area. All areas of employment law compliance reviewed, including contracts of employment, policies and staff handbook and report provided showing areas of acceptable compliance and areas of concern, listed by priority.On site option applies – the standard HR Healthcheck can be completed on site at your premises outside of West Midlands / West Mercia, where public transport at cost / mileage at 45p per mile is chargeable.

We guarantee the technical accuracy of the advice we give you and the quality of our service. If you would like to exit from your subscription at any point up to 3 months from the start date, just let us know and we’ll arrange for it to end. You’ll pay only for the time used and the cost of any HR Healthcheck taken in that period. This guarantee is separate to our complaints procedure which can be used at any time during or after this period.

i) be established as a bona fide civil society organisation in the UK (e.g. a charity, community organisation, co-operative, social enterprise or an infrastructure organisation supporting the sector)

AND

ii) be currently delivering services or trading

iii) be preparing to deliver services or trade.
