In celebration of Social Enterprise Day 2023, Roots HR are offering up to 5 social enterprises the opportunity of accessing 4 hours of FREE ad hoc HR support as part of our social impact, funded by our trading surpluses.
Why is this offer available?
At Roots HR, we’re dedicated to elevating people management within the not-for-profit sector. As a social enterprise, we reinvest a portion of our trading surpluses to provide various FREE HR services. These services include HR toolkits, factsheets, webinars, management development, and now, as part of Social Enterprise Day 2023, we’re thrilled to offer social enterprises the opportunity to access free ad hoc HR support.
Roots HR is proud to introduce the Social Impact Fund for 2023, funding 4 hours of employer-led HR consultancy support delivered by our expert consultants. Social enterprises can apply to this fund, outlining how their organisation will benefit from this support.
What is on offer?
As part of Social Enterprise Day 2023 we are pleased to provide an opportunity for up to 5 UK based social enterprises to receive a block of 4 COMPLY As Required hours valued at £396 + VAT, completely free of charge.
Our market-leading people management service, COMPLY, helps social sector organisations comply with employment laws and manage day-to-day HR queries and cases. Through this offer you will receive:
- 4 hours to call or email us whenever you need advice or support
- Time remains available for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Under the COMPLY service, you can access an HR advice line for guidance on:
- General HR queries, such as family leave requests
- Employee cases, such as absence management
- Operational HR requirements, like safer recruitment practices
- People management-focused activities, like managing change or restructuring.
Who’s eligible?
Any social enterprise in England, Wales, or Scotland with a turnover under £200,000 per year can apply. It’s also an excellent opportunity for those about to start employing people. Please note that existing or former paying clients of Roots HR are not eligible to apply.
How does it work?
If your application is successful, Roots HR will provide a work plan, agree on deliverables and timescales with an internal sponsor in your organization, and deliver the support remotely via email, telephone, or Teams/Zoom. If you wish to purchase additional hours once the 4 hours have been used, you can do so at our usual rates.

How will we select the lucky social enterprise?
We’ll consider applications only for services that Roots HR can deliver effectively. We’re more likely to choose organisations that, based on the information provided in their application, stand to gain the most from funded COMPLY As Required hours. Selection is on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will be notified by December 8, 2023.

After the consultancy hours been used, we will ask you to complete a short evaluation of our services, which may be used for marketing and social media purposes. We will seek to protect your organisation’s identity if you request us to.
