Performance Management

Effective performance management of the workforce can often distinguish successful organisations from their competition. When undertaken well it can improve performance at an individual level which in turn helps deliver improved performance at a team and organisation level.

Good performance management can also help to improve employee engagement and retention, reduce absenteeism and help minimise management time and resources on formal processes by addressing underperformance issues in a timely manner.

What is performance management?

Broadly speaking performance management is the process whereby a line manager, on behalf of their employer, defines what good performance and behaviours look like (through the setting of standards and objectives), understands and facilitates any support or development required, monitors the performance of employees and provides feedback on their performance.
