Roots HR are offering you the opportunity of a free place on our popular and highly effective Essential HR training course – or new for 2016, Recruitment and Selection and Equality and Diversity.

What do the courses include?

Delivered by our fully qualified and experienced senior HR professionals, these ½ day training courses include legal updates, led discussions, interactive sessions and anonymised real-life sector case studies and scenarios.

Essential HR learning objectives

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand the main requirements of employment law and how to manage the risks of employing people
  • Know the key steps to delivering better performance from within your workforce
  • Know how to manage misconduct and underperformance with individuals.

Recruitment and Selection learning objectives

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand the business case for merit-based recruitment and selection
  • Understand the law relating to recruitment and selection and what this means in practice
  • Know how to prepare for interviews (including questioning techniques) and have an awareness of types of selection tests
  • Know how to deliver interviews and how to assess candidates in selection situations.

Equality and Diversity learning objectives

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand what is meant by managing “equality” and “diversity” within the workplace
  • Have an awareness of the legal requirements within the area of equality, in particular the Equality Act 2010, and the implications that this legal framework has for you as a manager
  • Understand the implications of your strategic and operational decisions as a manager
  • Know how to avoid or mitigate risks of potential claims of discrimination.

Who can attend?

These courses are ideally suited for senior managers, line managers and/or leaders, or those with HR responsibilities, within small or medium sized social sector organisations (under 120 employees). The courses are also a great opportunity for an organisation just about to start employing people.

We’re delivering 9 x ½ day training courses; in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Nottingham throughout January – June 2016.

Places are limited to 16 for each training course.

Roots HR provide this training on a fully funded basis through our trading surpluses; we reserve the right to amend or cancel this training at any time.

  • Places are allocated on the basis of one course per delegate and we ask you to indicate your first choice course.
  • Delegates may register for additional courses and will be allocated a place on a wait list, availability to be confirmed 7 days in advance of the event.
  • Maximum of 3 delegates per organisation per course; additional delegates may register and will be allocated a place on a wait list, availability to be confirmed 7 days in advance of the event.

On receipt of application, we’ll reply with an email confirming the course, date, time and venue.
